Meadowdale Raceways

  • Village Green Condomniums 605 Barrington Avenue East Dundee, IL, 60118 United States (map)

Meadowdale Raceways holds a place in the memories and hearts of        thousands that had an opportunity to experience the excitement of this 3.27 mile International Race Track. Opening in 1958, Meadowdale Raceways was originally nestled in the rural farm country northwest of Chicago, just north of Dundee and west of Carpentersville. The track only remained open for 12 years, with the final races taking place in 1969.

Today, in 2026, the track still holds onto the land that it claimed back in the 1950s. Thanks to the efforts of the local Park District, the Kane County Forest
Preserve and the Dundee Township, the track and surrounding land have been
preserved for future generations.

Renamed Raceway Woods, the public can still walk the track that countless
drivers once sped down. The adrenaline rush of the race has been replaced with the serene calm of nature, slowly recapturing her space. Sprouting trees have pierced here and there right through the pavement. Countless varieties of birds and wildlife have made this area their home as well. The prairie land has been replaced with forest. Raceway Woods is a haven for nature lovers with the backdrop of what once was a world class racetrack.

This presentation reviews the history od what was and what is.
